Storage for foreign residents in Israel is what you need when your life here has more moving parts than your apartment: a lift that lands before the lease starts, a posting that ends in two years, a semester abroad, or a decision you have not made yet about staying. Who uses storage in Israel as a foreign resident

• Olim in their first year. The shipment arrives before the apartment is ready, or you land with suitcases and sign a lease three weeks later. A unit holds the lift until you have keys, and again when you move from the first rental to the one you actually want.
• Diplomats, embassy staff and people on assignment. A posting is two or three years. What came with you but does not fit the furnished apartment waits in a locked unit until the next move.
• International students. A room’s worth of things over the summer, between programs, or during a semester abroad, 15 minutes from Mount Scopus and Givat Ram at our Jerusalem-area branch, or inside Tel Aviv.
• Foreign residents who leave for a while. Renting out the apartment furnished or empty while you are abroad for a year, and keeping what matters in a unit instead of in a friend’s spare room.
• Families between countries. Clearing a parent’s apartment from abroad, or keeping a household in Israel while the family decides where home is.

What storage in Israel costs

The price depends on the unit size, the branch and the commitment track: no commitment, six months to a year, or over a year. The table shows the starting price on the over-a-year track, on the lowest-priced floor, VAT included. In Israel apartments are counted by rooms including the living room, so a 3-room apartment has two bedrooms.

How it works when you are arriving, or already abroad

Timing the lift: a checklist for olim and relocations

• Book the unit as soon as you have a shipping date, not an arrival date. Ports and customs add days you do not control; a unit that is waiting costs a month, a shipment with nowhere to go costs storage at the port.
• Ask your international mover to deliver straight to the unit and to unload with you or with us present. Give them the branch address and the access hours.
• Keep a box of first-week essentials with you, not in the lift: documents, chargers, a week of clothes, the children’s favourites.
• Photograph every item worth insuring before it is packed, and keep the inventory list on your phone. It is what you need for the declared value.
• Leave an aisle in the unit from the door to the back wall, and put what you might need first by the door.

What to store, and what to leave out

Furniture, appliances, books, clothing, bikes, documents and archives we look after every day. Fresh or perishable food, flammable and hazardous materials, gas, fuel, paint, plants and animals are not allowed. Wrap sofas and mattresses in breathable covers rather than sealed plastic, dry the fridge for 24 hours with the door open, and pack books in small boxes. Can I rent a unit before I arrive in Israel?

Which branch is closest to Jerusalem?

Kiryat Anavim, at the kibbutz entrance next to the Route 1 interchange, about 15 minutes west of the city centre without traffic and up to 5 minutes from Mevaseret Zion and Abu Ghosh. Open Sunday to Thursday 09:00 to 17:00.

Can my international mover deliver the container contents straight to the unit?

Yes. Kibbutz Galuyot, Yakum and Kiryat Anavim have truck access and unloading next to the building. Give the mover the branch address and the access hours, and let us know the date.

How much does storage in Israel cost a month?

From ₪199 for a small unit in Yakum or Kiryat Anavim and from ₪350 in Tel Aviv, up to about ₪1,540 for a unit that holds a whole house. The full price list is on the price list page.

Is there a minimum period?

No. There is a no-commitment track, and tracks of six months to a year and over a year, where the monthly price is lower. You can switch tracks once your plans are clear.

Are my belongings insured?

Insurance is not included in the price. You can insure the contents with comprehensive cover on the full value you declare, at ₪1.8 per ₪1,000 of declared value.

Can someone else collect things for me while I am abroad?

Yes. You decide who holds a key to your unit. Your unit is private, and none of our staff enters it without you or your authorisation.

Do you offer 24-hour access?

At the Kibbutz Galuyot branch in Tel Aviv yes, with a personal chip, and at the business container compound in Kiryat Anavim. The other branches are open during their hours.

Do you store cars, or offer luggage storage for tourists?

No. We rent private storage units by the month for household and business contents. For a day’s luggage storage, ask your hotel or a luggage service in the city centre.

What size unit do I need for my shipment?

A studio fits a SMALL unit, a 2-room apartment a SMALL 1 or MEDIUM, a 3-room apartment a MEDIUM 1 or LARGE, a 4-room home a LARGE 1 or EXTRA LARGE.
